Moon phases
Ronald and Grimace, the two moons of the Kingdom, wax and wane on a 16-day cycle. Their state affects several things:
Stat days, which increase rate of stat gain: On a Mysticality Day, for example, the rate at which you gain Mysticality increases by 50%. Each stat has two stat days per moon cycle.
HP and MP gains from resting: When one moon is full, gains from resting will be doubled for either HP or MP. Ronald doubles MP, and Grimace doubles HP.
Grue familiar: The grue is a strong attacking familiar whose effectiveness is based on the moons. When the moons are dark, the grue will fight. When they're light, it won't.
Blood of the Wereseal: This is a buff which increases or decreases muscle by a percentage, depending on the phase of the moons. The brighter the moons are, the more of a stat bonus it gives, and conversely so.
Talisman of Baio: An ultra-rare accessory which buffs stats by a percentage which varies by moon phase. It is most effective when the moons are most bright.
Jekyllin hide belt: An accessory which provides a stat boost and an item drop bonus. The bonuses change depending on moon phase--the Jekyllin gives the most item drop bonus when the moons are bright, and the most stat boost when the moons are dark.
Holidays and Special Events:
While at first KoL holidays appeared on the dates of real holidays, Jick has also created several holidays which appear at recurring dates on the KoL calendar. There are currently five recurring holidays. The information here comes from N.O. member ragnok's site, Subjunctive KoL, and all links go to his very thorough event spoilers. Don't click if you don't wish to be spoiled.
Crimbo: December 25 (real calendar). On this day, Jick has handed out presents to the KoL populace. See Subjunctive KoL's Crimbo page for spoilers and details.
Feast of Boris: Boozember 7 (KoL calendar). On this suspiciously Thanksgiving-like holiday, you can eat twice as much as normal. Cranberries also have increased potency; eating them yields 2-4 adventures rather than the normal 1. For more information, see Subjunctive KoL's Feast of Boris page.
Halloween: Porktober 8 (KoL calendar) and October 31 (real calendar). On this day, you can wear outfits and go trick-or-treating around Seaside Town. See Subjunctive KoL's Halloween page for spoilers and details.
Oyster: April 2 (KoL calendar). On this day, you can buy an oyster basket and go hunting around the Kingdom for Oyster eggs. Each oyster egg (there are 32 in all) has a different effect. See Subjunctive KoL's Oyster page for spoilers and details.
St. Sneaky Pete's Day: Starch 3 (KoL calendar). On this day, you can brew up special green beer, with which you can drink past your normal drunkenness into special exciting drunken stupors. See Subjunctive KoL's Sneaky Pete's page for details.
Today's Specials:
Two post-ascension zodiac sign areas provide NPC stores where you can buy either food or booze--Chez Snootee is located in the mysticality zodiac area and serves food, and the Micromicrobrewery serves booze in the moxie zodiac area. Each NPC store offers three regular items and a daily special.
Clover:
On any given day in the Kingdom, there is a 50% chance that the Hermit will have ten-leaf clover to trade for worthless trinkets.
Daily Dungeon:
The Daily Dungeon is a series of 10 adventures, seven of which are determined daily and include monsters, elemental damage and stat tests. The remaining three are treasure chests which contain random rewards. While each room of the Dungeon is the same for all adventurers on a given day, the rewards are not. This is a glossary which gives some simple background information about the items included in the Calendar.
